U-10 Blitz in Kilkoo 24/05/2014

Tullylish U10  team travelled to Kilcoo for a blitz last Saturday. They were placed in a difficult first group games with hosts Kilcoo, Clann Eireann and Drumgath.

The opening match was against Kilcoo which the hosts won 2.01 to 0.01 with Harry Agnew scoring the only point. The defense of Brogan McComiskey and James Webb played well. The second game was against Clann Eireann with us losing by 4 points to no score. Tony McCartan had a good game in midfield and Emmett Burns in goals played well but the forwards Alisha and Harvey Breen were tightly marked. The last of the opening group games was against Drumgath and was a tight game with Drumgath winning 2.00 to 0.03. The defense played well with Harry Agnew and Taylor Breen pushing forward and both scoring points. Tony McCartan scored the other point. Harry Agnew had a penalty saved.

The second group stage placed Tullylish in with Killeavy B, Burren and Ballyholland. The first game was tight with Tullylish winning by 1 point to no score. Tony McCartan scored the point with Sean McClure and Taylor Hadden going close on a couple of occasions. The second game was against Burren. Tullylish were in control from the start with points from Jack Dee and Louis Hill followed by a point and two goals either side of half time from Tony McCartan. Taylor Hadden, Taylor Breen and Louis Hill all scored points in the second half to leave the score at full time 2.06 to 0.00. Harvey Breen had a good game.  The last game was against Ballyholland B. Taylor Breen opened the scoring with a point and was followed by another one from Tony McCartan. Louis Hill scored two points and then Connor Egan added another two points before half time.  Lee McConnon and Ryan O’Neill came on at half time for Alisha Breen and Sean McClure. Conor Egan got a goal and this was the only other score of the second half. Final score Tullylish 1.06 Ballyholland B 0.00. Emmett Burns made a couple of good saves and his long kick outs helped the defence.


Tullylish were drawn against Dundrum in the quarter finals of the shield but they didn’t field giving Tullylish a semi final against Carryduff. Carryduff started the stronger and opened up a leadoff 2.01 to no score at half time. Brogan McComiskey, James Webb, Taylor Webb and Jack Dee tried hard in defense. Harry Agnew scored a goal early in the second half and Harvey Breen tried hard but Carryduff added another three points before the end of the game and won 2.04 to 1.00.
