Tullylish Under 12 Vs Newry Shamrocks

Welcome to Parc Na Og on a lovely Sunday morning as the Tullylish U-12 boys and girls are looking for another good performance in this tough encounter with the Newry team.

The match is underway and Tullylish get off to good start. Louis O’Neil catches a high ball and lays it off to Rory Og Gaynor who does a solo run through the Shamrocks defence and opens the scoring with a fine goal. The visitors work the ball up the field and are putting the Tullylish defence under pressure ,with some good goalkeeping from Taylor Hadden in the home net, Shamrocks are now throwing everybody forward ,with a good clearance from Shea Molloy who hits a long ball to Daniel Morgan and then lays it off to Louis Hill who has just come on as sub, Hill takes a great score over the bar, simple football well executed from a player only onto the field a few seconds ago. Shamrocks shore up their defence after being caught cold ,with the home team trying had to get through ,it was the visitors who were next on the scoreboard with a high ball into the box and somehow hitting the back of the net ,with the kick out from Hadden finds Tony McCartan who connects with Eoin McManus and Tiernan Lyness who finds Rory Og and again who duly obliges with another well taken goal ,and from the kick out Heidi Conlon wins the ball and passes to Taylor Breen who takes a fine point ,with the score 2.2 to 1.0 to the Tullylish half time was upon us.

The second half up and running and Tullylish playing against an ever increasing wind, it was Shamrocks turn to dictate the game with 2 early points and the Tullylish defence of James Webb, Harry Agnew and Rory McIlduff , Louis O’Neill and Shea Molloy are under severe pressure. But Shamrocks kept coming with 2 goals on the trot which changed the game ,some changes were made with Alisha Breen and Eoin Corbett introduced which steadied the home team who were now chasing the game ,with some good goalkeeping from Hadden in nets and good long range clearance’s from Louis O’Neil, the Tullylish team regrouped and Louis Hill top of the left, pointed from distance confidence was growing again. Eoin McManus points from distance again with a great score but not to be outdone, Hill knocks over another find point . From the kick out Shamrocks take possession and take a long range point .Hadden takes a long kick out and finds Daniel Morgan who puts through to Eoin Corbett who takes a super point from play, with the match level and not long to go, Rory Og picks up a head injury and is forced to go off. On comes Aoife Campbell and Conor Egan with Tullylish starting to dominate again and needing a score to put the game out of reach. With 3 to 4 chances going the wrong side of the post for the home team, into the last minutes of the game Shamrocks hit a long ball forward which Hadden makes a great clearance, resulting in the ball hitting the Tullylish defender and agonisingly finding the back of the net. From the kick out the ref blows the whistle.

The Tullylish team thought they had done enough ,a lucky goal sealed it for the Newry side who would count themselves very fortunate to get anything from this game but the boys and girls from Tullylish can be proud of their performance and some well taken scores from the younger members of this team ,Thanks must go to the coaches of Sean McDermott, Conor McManus, Gareth Johnson for setting the team up ,on another day we might have had the bounce of the ball in our favour ,well done to Newry Shamrocks for a hard fought game. Thanks to the supporters who turned up to watch the game.

Final score Tullylish 2-6 to Newry Shamrocks 4-3
